故事发生在第二次世界大战期间，周作（长门裕之饰）身患重病对生活失去了希望，他来到了位于冈山县的一处温泉旅馆里，决定在那里结束自己的生命。在旅馆中，周作结识了名叫新子（冈田茉莉子饰）的17岁少女，在新子的细心照料下，周作渐渐恢复了健康，也重新燃起了生的希望。 当周作再次见到新子时，已经是三年之后，周作并没有珍惜来之不易的健康，而是将它们会活在酒精和玩乐之中。周作打算邀请新子一起殉情，但新子开朗的性格令他们最终打消了这念头。时间继续流淌着，新子和周作的感情还在不断的纠缠着，为了等待周作的不期而至，新子一直都没有婚嫁。。Guy is an experienced British fighter pilot who is in command of Britain's first manned mission to space. He has trained for this for three years at the height of the Cold War and now he is alone in space with a malfunctioning capsule. He has limited contact with the UK, some unusual communication with the US and some unorthodox communication with Tyuratam deep in Soviet Russia...。
